He’s here! He’s here!  40 weeks and 3 days.  He came in like thunder 12 days ago, Sunday morning as my husband was on his Air Force Reserve drill weekend, me and the kiddos were nestled at my mom’s; close to the hospital where I was going to have the baby.  Husband made it to triage and I was already 5 minutes apart and at about a 5.  So I had hope that this was the day.  October 5th, 2014, we were about to have our 3rd child.

A super happy little Clare with her Daddy and baby brother. She just couldn't get enough of him.

The novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots was happening during his birth, so boy oh boy did I as Mama Mary for her help. I brought this image to my delivery room. Thanks be to God for Nuestra Madre. She is my help.

Oh my goodness with all the huge cute. Babymoon is the best. Somehow this little man has changed me. I feel like our family is fulfilled and that God has truly answered our prayers. We are so blessed that he is here. Miracle of miracles.

7qt on My Post Due Date Strategy for Happiness.

Uh, where'd my feet go, again!???

Uh, where’d my feet go, again!???

So, I’m teeeerrrrrrible at being post Due Date.  I flipping hate it.  There’s all this talk for 9 months about when baby is supposed to come and so far, no baby has been on time much less early.  So, this time around with little baby #3rd I’m going to *try* a different approach:  being POSITIVE.  What’s that?, you say?  Yes, I’m going to try it on for size, a very large 10 months pregnant size, but try I shall.

40 weeks and 1 day. Possibly very last pic as a pregnant lady and hopefully last of this poor maternity blouse that has seen a few too many wears.

40 weeks and 1 day. Possibly very last pic as a pregnant lady and hopefully last of this poor maternity blouse that has seen a few too many wears.

I am reminded by my dear friend Kathryn, whom I refer to a lot of Team Whitaker, that I need to relish and enjoy these pregnant moments.  So, here I go, enjoying what and when I can.  These are likely the last moments of being pregnant I will ever have.  At 42, it’s proving to be quite a spiritual, mental and physical challenge, tho I am extremely grateful this pregnancy has been totally uneventful. Thanks be to God.

So: the Strategy list.  I’m a list maker.  It’s how I keep my brain in check with the world.

1.

Eat, drink your H2O, shower and brush your teeth.  Simple enough, right?

2.

Stay focused on the good stuff like:  our sweet little babe will be here soon; you get to see people get really excited about a new little life, your cute children who are so excited to meet little one, your husband trying to do everything he can to make things easier on you, having a really great hospital you get to deliver at; Delivering in Colorado!; it’s a gorgeous day.

3.

Remember that God has a plan for me.  And that I am His child and he for realz sent His Only Son to die for me.  Dude.

4.

I live in a beautiful state in the best nation on planet Earth and that the Blessed Virgin has my back.

5.

Remember what cool timing it is that there is a Novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots that I am participating in right now to promote the culture of Life in Colorado and the United States of America.

6.

We totally have the name thing down.  Saints- you know who you are- Pray for us! (sorry, not telling until little man makes his entrance.  Tho- if anyone guesses first and middle name, I will personally send you something ridiculous and silly).

7.

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this, I. CAN. DO. THIS. ~By the grace of God and a little divine intervention. Oh, and chocolate.

Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, Pray for us.

Entonces, no tienen que tener miedo. YO sólo necesitan tener confianza en el Señor.

Hope to have a baby by next post amigos.  Thanks for stopping by!

Head over to Jen’s for maybe some non-preggo news and good reading.

{pretty, happy, funny, real} Co-Sleeping Blankie!!, bellies and prayerfully pondering Homeschooling.

I did it!  I finally finished my co-sleeping blanket for our newest addition.  Phew.  That only took over a year and a half.  This fabric has been waiting patiently in my closet along with my sweet sewing machine since forever.  I got enough contractions the other day to realize that I better get on the cutting, sewing, finishing ball before baby actually gets here and I no longer have use of all my faculties for a while, including both hands.

I’m a huge fan of the co-sleep situation when baby arrives, and always always fight with my blankets, and thought, hey, I should make one that it cut out just for baby and me.  Voila.  It’s not at all perfect 1st trial, but I want to make more and practice practice and make some for Anyone who wants one!  Give me a shout if you are interested.  Next one I think will be the soft muslin layered version for cooler days in the Anais + Aden style.

We were able to get some pre-baby fun pics in.  Despite my embarrassment of showing belly, I’m mustering the courage to put these here.

Where did my feet go!?! Sigh.

{real} in 3 Parts.

Part 1:A couple of things:  Baby prep ain’t no joke.  Going thru boy stuff from 4 years ago, washing, organizing, figuring out where to put all things baby is just taking up all my brian space, and sleep.  Wowzah.

Bum wash and re-usable cloths for said bum! what an awesome, free, chemical wonder of the parenthood world. Thanks to Team Whitaker for this gem of an idea.

Part 2:  Now on a serious and sad really {real} note:  Our son’s St. Anthony’s Catholic School is closing at the end of this school year.

school-angle

The cat’s outta the bag so I’m free to talk about it here.  We had a parent meeting this week with our pastor Fr. Robert Wedow who had the great misfortune to announce that he must close the school.  This school is in a very rural area that has been struggling for a long time and even raised over 1 million dollars to keep it open just over 2 years ago- in this community- that was nothing short of a miracle.  We may very well not be here next year, but St. Anthony’s is a beacon of education and will be sorely missed in this small community.  I guess there are a lot of people who are very angry.  Personally, I just feel loss and sadness that this amazing place in the middle of the plains of Colorado will be closing it’s doors after almost 100 years of growing kids in faith and education.  Father Wedow is open to options, but in all seriousness, the budgetary needs far far exceed what is at all reasonable to keep the school open after this school year.

We’re so happy that our son has been able to benefit from the great pre-school here last year and this one.  He loves his school and we do too.  St. Anthony, Pray for us!

This brings me to Part 3 of {real} this week:

Prayerful contemplation of homeschooling.

Where do I even start?- was my first thought when we heard the news that there was a parent meeting.  Luckily, that very night, as the Holy Spirit would have it, a lovely friend Dianna of The Kennedy Adventures – an Amazing family- homeschooling- Catholic resource blog- posted this wonderful article from Catholic Sistas on homeschooling:

10 STEPS TO START {CATHOLIC} HOMESCHOOLING

“”If God leads you to it, He will lead you through it. I had MANY of those same doubts. I read lots of homeschool and Catholic homeschool books looking for those who had conquered the obstacles I perceived and that combined with prayer fortified me. Am I perfect at it? No, no one is…no education is perfect. Let God work on your fears, it sounds like He IS working on your heart.”

Needless to say, this quote spoke right to my heart, my place, my worry, my doubt, my hope that our children will have the very best education for their individuality and ability to be life-long learners.

There are so many things to think about and now I can begin the prayer, reading and research that I thought I was done with in regard to homeschooling.

So my husband and I embark on the very real notion that we could have a homeschooling home come next fall.  If you have any moment, please pray for us.  We need all the help we can get.

~~~That’s it from casa Falls this week.  That’s quite enough I think. I pray you all are well.
Muchas gracias to Like Mother Like Daughter for hosting this linkup!  Hope to see you all there. And I would love to hear from you on these things friends!
Sum sum Summah pics and Randomness. Porque Sipo.
So, that’s about the size of things right now.  I feel like I have perma- Slurpee brain freeze.  Pregnancy man.  It Ain’t for wimps.
Between finding out we didn’t get the job – OH Praise Sweet Baby Jesus !- for that miracle, baby prep, school starting for preschooler, August being the craziest month on planet Earth somehow and generally being el Preggo, dude; this mama is ti-red.
Here’s some cute pics to tide us over tho:
IMG_20140808_191106
Our happy guy being his happy cute self.  We love you Blaise.  Love.
There’s totally more but it’s seriously bedtime up in here and I’m all short on patience these days.
These kids are saints in the making for having me as a preggo mom, I’ll tell you what.
Fast trying to get our baby prep on.  And- gulp, gasp, I think I’m going to try the cloth diapering.  I’m terrified, but it seems so economical and I just love that we won’t be filling a landfill with disposables.
If you got a prayer to spare, please pray little guy doesn’t make an appearance until wk. 38.
OH, and, I LOVED this idea from my friends Kathryn and Dwija– so-  I’m totally going to be collecting prayer intentions to get me thru
-hopefully- natural birth this time around.  Please leave your intentions here if you would like some said.
Thanks for stopping by y’all!
Much to celebrate.
It’s birthday month for our beautiful little miracle Clare. She’s turning 2 and I just cannot say how much her life has added to our family. I remember crying during prayer with my son before she was born thinking he won’t be our only little guy anymore. The heart has so much more capacity for love than we give it credit.
Happy Birthday Month Bear Bear!
Happy Birthday Month Bear Bear!
Happy International Breastfeeding Week!  In celebration I’m hosting a Big Latch On in my town for the 2nd year in a row tomorrow!  I’m proud to support breastfeeding, meet other Moms and keep the message to normalize breastfeeding going.  Plus, this year, we have some seriously amazing sponsors and gifts for Moms and babies!!!
Happy Breastfeeding Week!
Happy Breastfeeding Week!
It’s with a sad heart that we say goodbye today to a beautiful mother, wife, Sister in Christ Sarah Harkins and her unborn baby Cecelia.  Please join me in a powerful birthday prayer for Sarah. I have been heartbroken over the past days after finding out about her accident and loss. I feel today a better person for knowing her and her legacy, getting to know her family in this tragic time.  She makes me want to be a better mother, wife, sister and follower of Christ.  Thanks be to God for our enormous Catholic family lifting them up, lifting up our own pain at the loss of someone many of us do not even know.  In celebration of her life and her birthday tomorrow we join in prayer and thanksgiving for her family, her husband Eric and beautiful children.  A special thanks to Ginny at Small Things for all of her generous updates and words of love and encouragement.
This month our son starts back to Catholic pre-school. I’m not all, Yay! he’s going to be out of the house. This is a celebration because he loves it so very much and I am so glad to say that we have finally made a choice to keep him in school instead of homeschooling (possible blog series awaits). This summer I have tried to devote prayer and thought to this.  As long as our government will not intervene in Catholic school education and as far as any diocese we move to in the future will uphold Catholic teaching and reject Common Core I am very happy for our children to be able to embark on this path. I am also so very grateful that we live in an area that we can afford to put our son into a Catholic pre-school right now.  It truly is about 1/3rd the cost of a city Catholic school.  This won’t always be the case and there are already sacrifices, but it’s worth it to us. I am so very grateful too, in no small part that God has given my husband a steady job that allows us the freedom to have our son learn and grow in such a faithful and lovely environment that is his school room. I want our children to have freedom of faith and freedom to practice our Catholic faith in every single part of their lives.  School will be the second biggest after family soon and my prayer is that they come to know and love the Lord in a way I never had as a child.  That they know the Catholic Church is their true home on Earth and that Jesus is our true home in and beyond life.
Divine-Mercy
Baby #3rd is 31 weeks now!  We’re getting close and I’m so very grateful that our plan to stay here and have the baby in Denver is intact.  This is a really big deal.  With Clare we left for Texas at 36 weeks and I was stuck finding a new location/ob everything who would accept a vbac for “advanced Maternal age” with pretty much zero notice.  Found a great one luckily .  This baby, I’m like, good, you’ll deliver my baby, 2 hours away?  No problem, just give me -the possibility- of what I want- no drugs, access to a tub, people who can deliver a baby and we’re good.  Okey doke?  Great.  I don’t even care if you try to talk to me about birth control, that’s just a conversation starter as far as this Catholic Creighton practicing mama is concerned.
The best part is I’m finally getting excited to meet our little guy.  Our son comes up to tell me “Mom, I like your baby belly.”  Clare is always coming up singing Doc McStuffins Check-up song and checking for his little baby heartbeat.  I’m going to miss these moments.  But look forward to them being big brother and big sister to a tiny little one now.  And- we’re going to have 3 children!  Wow.  What a terrifying blessing the Lord has bestowed upon my husband and I.  I’m so happy to share parenthood with my husband.  It’s been quite a journey and I’m sure will prove to be.  Holy Spirit, Mother Mary, please be with us!
Happy 31 Weeks Baby Falls!
Happy 31 Weeks Baby Falls!
That’s all for today.  Thank you for stopping by.  Must go prepare for all the fun at the Big Latch On tomorrow!
Armed Forces Day & ‘Mom’s Night In’ Recap w. pix!
It’s Armed Forces Day!
First I just want to say a heartfelt Thank You to all those who have, do and will serve our American Armed Forces.  It is because of your work, dedication and sacrifice that we can call ourselves Americans today. This may seem cliche, but I believe this to be true and your work is usually the last to get noticed or thanked.  And a special Thank You to my husband; once and always a United States Marine and current Air Force Reserves Tech. Sergeant.  What you do means so much to me and I am so proud to call you my husband.  May God Bless our Armed Forces.
 I decided that I needed to put a proper cap on the #sotg drink tasting since it was such a blast for moms and kids alike.
Snuggled in Thomas bed.
So, I owe a giant thank you to you lovely ladies who braved liquors that you don’t even like PLUS raw egg whites to help me compete in this totally fun contest for Jen Fulwiler’s book release. I hope that you all go out and get a copy too. This had to be the best excuse to have some ladies over and just have a fun night and let our kids just play like wild things that they are.
Some proof that this so-called SOTG drink was made and enjoyed:
7_quick_takes_sm1[1]
Hey y’all!  We made it to Friday, not that that means anything around these parts, but we did, and somehow this week it actually feels like a Friday for once in a Blue Martini moon.  (I’m pregnant, all I can think about are the lovely blue cheese stuffed olive martinis I cannot have right now.)
{1}
sotg-party
Speaking of drinks, are you partaking in the Jen’s fun #sotg  book release contests!?  I hope so, cuz I love me a good competition. And Eep!  tonight is the deadline, I totally thought I had until manana, pero, no.  Today is it folks.
Husband and I came up with a -to-be-taste-tested-by-non-preggos-later-hopefully delicious- and contest winning- #sotg drink.  Phew.  I sent my Top Secret Recipe to one hilarious and you all knew her before I did; Kelly of  This Ain’t The Lyceum for a video making!
That’s me gasping at that generous offer.
Anyway, to finish this post I gotta Giant list of crap to get done today and that lawn ain’t gonna mow itself.
{3}
This past weekend, I was able to get down to Colorado Springs with kids for some family fun.  Husband is training, placing 3rd in a state-wide shooting contest, doing cool AFR stuff; so we made the trek.  I made it longer by making a much needed pit stop at my Mom’s.  My husband was so sweet and did everything to make my day a lovely one.  Thank you babe!
{3.1}
Mishap #1:  I simply Had to get those dandelions mowed down cuz there was probably a storm a comin’ and I didn’t know if our city would make good on their promise to charge us an arm and a leg to spray them themselves before husband got the chance to deal with them.  Our city, it’s my least favorite thing about living here so far.  I don’t like this term, but nanny state totally fits here.  And for some reason, I felt this was fitting:
{3.2}
Mishap #2 Start the car after 1.5 hours of dragging the lawnmower around the lawn and truck decides not to start.  Luckily there were some nice farmer guys doing another neighbors lawn who jumped the battery.  Phew.
{3.3}
Mishap #3:  It started to snow.  Hard.  Like sideways 1/4 mile visibility kinda snow.  On Mother’s Day.  And I forgot socks for me. Husband to the rescue again.  Phew.
{3.4}
Did anyone ever tell you in your whole life that it is a TERRIBLE idea to take a toddler to a movie, at an actual movie theater?  That kid can sit and watch her some Daniel Tiger or Dora or some stupid movie, yes, I’m a terrible Mom, but a real paid-for flick.  UGH.  Just- don’t- do- it.  Unless you want this to be your life:
funny-monday-picture-me-monday-true-story
{4}
dandelions
These guys.  Aren’t they pretty?  Well;
Ooooooooooh boy. I have to give a Major Mea Culpa to my neighbors whom I have been a hatin’ on for at least a week for this dandelion thing. I just talked to the city to get a “preggo extension” on the whole Nuisance Code mess. It turns out that the City of Sterling has been walking around our neighborhood, literally, to see who is in violation of this horrible dandelion EPIDEMIC. I mean, those dandelions, you Seriously have to watch them, they could kill a person.
So, to my unwitting neighbors, I am so sorry for all the glaring, talk behind your backs  and general mean thoughts in your direction, I apologize.  Not that you will ever see this crazy Catholic Mama blog, but still.  Plus, there’s confession. Phew.  Now I turn the death glares to you, dear stupid city.  Which is childish, I know, but give me a break.
I think that’s actually 7, so that’s what Ima do this week.  Gotta change somebody’s little dipe then get all bedazzled for my #SOTG drink taste test Mom’s night In fun.
Happy Friday, can’t wait to read more over at the Fulwiler place!
And major congratulations to you Jen for writing and  getting this book out!  I am so very looking forward to some time to read it!
